Lexis

    He was a man who swept up problemas.act
    act - ato
    He is a man who uses few words.But when he epeacks, other men act.
    leaflet - folhetos
    The class were impressed too and they agreeg to raise the money to produce a leaflet, which they would hand out outside the supermarket.
    chemicals - produto químico
    The beans were picked five days ago and were aprayed with chemicals to stop them going brown on the journey.
    nodded - pessoa que acena com a cabeça.

  3. FIRING: fogo; aquecimento; combustível; descarga de arma.
    Ex: There was the sound of a gun firing.
    KNOCK: bater.
    Ex: The Sweeper didn't knock on the door...
    SMASH: despedaçar; quebrar.
    Ex: He just smashed his way into the apartament.
    FURTHER: mais, adicional.
    Ex: Food in the U.K. now travels 50% further than it did 15 years ago.
    GREENHOUSE: estufa.
    Ex:...road transport is the only sourceof a greenhouse gas...
    CABBAGE: couve.
    Ex: Does that mean that cabbages get free flights to Spain?

    Ex: "...his village at the other end of the dusty red road." (line 5, p. 12)

    WHILE - (período de ) tempo, momento
    Ex: "So, while she did not talk about...". (line 2, p. 14)

    RATHER - um tanto, bastante
    Ex: "The company thought it was rather inconvient..." (line 15, p. 14)

    curtains- cortinas
    Which meant constant redecoration, new cushions, and new curtains, and a house that looked as if no one actually lived there.
    Stuff - material, substancia
    tailings- is a name you give to all the stuff that's left ower when you dig copper or silver or whatever out of the ground.

    SCREAM: gritar.

    SAFER: seguro.

    NASTY: sórdido, torpe.
    MINING: mineração.
    Ex: “... wich is really nasty mining company with a history...” (line 20, p. 31)
    TROUBLE: problema, aborrecimento.
    Ex: “The trouble is...” (line 3, p. 32)
    BETRAY: trair.
    Ex: “Could she actually give the information to Daniel and betray her father?” (line 20, p.41)
